Our Process
Understanding the Space
Before we discuss wood species or style, we start with your space.
We look at:
- Room size and circulation
- Seating needs (daily use vs hosting)
- Natural light and how it affects tone
- Flooring colour and warmth
- Cabinetry and surrounding materials
- Overall interior direction — modern, traditional, transitional
A table should feel intentional in the room — not dropped into it.
If a design looks beautiful on its own but fights the space, we’ll say so.
Defining the Direction
Once we understand the environment, we refine the Materials for the table itself.
We discuss:
- Solid wood vs live edge vs epoxy
- Level of wood character (clean grain vs expressive movement)
- Species options — walnut, white oak, maple, cherry and red oak
- Stain Options
- Finish tone (natural, warmed, muted, cool, etc)
- Base style and proportion
